I ask you – When have you known me to deify any element of existence with concrete belief?
I blab about it all the time, the boarders of reality are blurry. There’s always plenty epistemological wiggle-room. Things are not truly how we perceive them with our senses. What appears to be reality isn’t. It’s a filtered, funneled, negotiation that has evolutionary and social utility from our own individual point of view. It’s a concretely unique, yet stochastic, reality tunnel that’s constantly under construction.
I’m not going to blab about that again though. I’m only bringing it up so you know what a big deal it is for me to say what I’m about to say (dramatic pause).
Psychic phenomenon exists (you see how I’m not qualifying that?). Not only does it exist, we’re all constantly participating in it, probably without even realizing it. I go into this several times in this rap, so I think it’s worth contextualizing and exploring. However, I’m going to leave to this man, a neuroscientist, VS Ramachandran.
How incredible is that? Via some unseen means of information transmission, our neurons spontaneously configure into the exact same arrangement as our fellow man’s. This allows us to not only understand one another, but feel what others feel. It’s not hard to argue that this often-overlooked phenomenon is the very engine of our humanity in many ways. Without it, I shudder to think what we’d be like.
